Ever since I was a little girl I have loved textiles. Some of my most precious memories are playing in my grandma's button box and pushing the treadle on her machine. When I was about ten years old, I was making my own period doll clothes. I loved the 1860's with those big hoop skirts!
Fast forward about 30 years. I discovered quilting and was immediately hooked. Intricate piecing, Baltimore Album, art quilt, Amish simplicity- I like them all.
Early in my quilting journey, I wanted to make a row quilt I saw in a magazine. It called for gradations of many colors. When I discovered how difficult these were to find, I decided I was going to hand dye fabric myself. I bought some white fabric, dye and a book on dyeing fabric in baggies and took everything out to the driveway. I remember how impatient I was for the fabric to "cook" and was fascinated to watch a white piece of fabric become the custom color I wanted. Again, I was hooked.
Now, more than twenty years and thousands of yards of fabric later, that sense of wonder is still with me.
So, I invite you to come in and discover my beautiful hand dyed cottons and wools. There is also a large selection of Quilters Select products, quilting fabrics from top manufacturers, appliquê and piecing patterns, notions and hand crafted jewelry.
